🐾 BGC’s New Puppy Waitlist Policy 🐾
Going forward, I’ve decided to change how some things are handled here.
Previously, I had a traditional master waitlist, but people would sometimes become unresponsive, which caused a lot of frustration and confusion. More recently, I moved to a fully “first come, first served” approach, but I don’t feel that system is quite right or fair either.
At BGC, we understand that choosing a puppy is an exciting and personal experience. I want to create a system that gives families a fair opportunity to get a puppy while also keeping the process organized, straightforward, and manageable.
This new policy will begin with the next planned litter, which would be between Fable and Kermit in winter 2026/2027.
🐶 Joining the Waitlist
Waitlists will open once pregnancy is confirmed.
Once the waitlist is open, families may join by having a puppy application approved. Waitlist spots will be offered in the order applications are approved and interest is received.
Each litter’s waitlist will be limited to **6 families total. **
Please reach out to BGC to confirm there is an available spot on the waitlist before applying.
Joining the waitlist gives you a place in line for that particular litter. However, joining the waitlist does not guarantee a puppy, a particular gender, color, coat type, or any other specific characteristic.
Because we cannot accurately predict the number or gender of puppies that will be born, there may not be a puppy available when your turn comes.
🐾 How the Waitlist Works
Once the puppies are old enough and we are ready to begin accepting reservations, families will be contacted in waitlist order. When it is your turn, you will have the opportunity to choose from the puppies that are available at that time.
BGC cannot guarantee that your preferred gender, color, coat type, or individual puppy will still be available when your turn comes.
⏰ Response Time
When contacted, families will have 24 hours to respond and let BGC know whether they would like to reserve an available puppy. If no response is received within the 24-hour period, we will consider the opportunity declined and move to the next family on the waitlist.
The 24-hour response period is intended to keep the process moving fairly for everyone and prevent a lack of communication from holding up the waitlist.
🐕 Choosing a Puppy
Puppies are offered in waitlist order based on the puppies that are available when your turn comes.
You are never obligated to choose a puppy simply because your turn has arrived. If none of the available puppies are what you are looking for, you may decline.
💰 Deposits & Reservations
A puppy is not considered reserved until BGC has confirmed the reservation.
Once everything has been received and the reservation confirmed, the puppy will no longer be offered to other families.
❤️ If You Decide to Pass
If you decide not to reserve a puppy when your turn comes, you may decline the available puppies.
Declining your opportunity for that litter will remove you from that litter’s waitlist. Waitlist positions do not automatically carry over to future litters. Each litter will have its own waitlist.
If you would like to be considered for a future litter, you may apply for that litter’s waitlist when it opens.
📢 If Puppies Remain Available
Once everyone on the waitlist has had their opportunity to choose, any puppies that remain available will be made available to the public.
At that point, everyone will have the same opportunity to reserve an available puppy.
📱 Keeping Your Information Current
Please keep your contact information current. If your email address, phone number, or other contact information changes, notify BGC so that we can reach you when your turn comes.
🤍 A Note About the New Process
My goal with this change is to find a middle ground between a large traditional waitlist and the first-come, first-served approach.
I want families who have expressed genuine interest in a BGC puppy to have a fair opportunity to choose one, while also making sure the process does not become stalled by unanswered messages or people who are no longer ready for a puppy.
The waitlist is intended to provide an opportunity—not an obligation or guarantee.
Thank you for your understanding as BGC moves toward a process that I hope will be fairer and less stressful. 🤍
**BGC reserves the right of first pick to keep any puppy from any litter as a future addition to the program here.**
