Fenix originally came to me from N&T’s Chihuahuas.
She will be 2 in November, so she’s just getting started in life.

She is 9lbs currently which seems to be a good weight for her build. She does ‘really’ love food though so care would have to be given in order to keep her at a good weight.

She has had all of the health testing required to achieve her CHIC#. Her DNA test was fully clear - no genetic predisposition to hereditary diseases - and she has had her OFA testing completed for Cardiac function, Patellas, and Eyes - all of which were normal. Fenix is scheduled to be spayed on July 22 and would need a few weeks to heal after the surgery before I would be comfortable letting her go to her new home. I would expect her to be healed by the end of August.

Fenix is very loving, but also apprehensive of new situations and new people, so she will take some time, patience, and grace while she warms up to her new family and home. She has a more submissive type of personality and will try to hide. She’s playful, silly, sassy, and enjoys being cuddled once she’s comfortable with you.

For a while in the beginning it would be best to walk her on a leash outside - even if it is fenced - while she is still getting used to her new people and surroundings. She has been using a litter box here inside and also has access to a doggy door to take herself out to the fenced yard whenever she likes. She is crate trained and also does very well in an indoor dog pen.
No, I can't guarantee she won't have any accidents in her new home.

Why am I retiring Fenix?
There is no real reason other than needing to downsize. Four active breeding females is setting a pace that, for me, isn't sustainable long term with how I want to be involved with my dogs and raise the puppies.
When I started Brooks Grove Canines my goal was always to remain a very small, intentional program where every dog and puppy receive an incredible amount of love, time, and individual attention. Over time the program naturally grew, and while I am incredibly grateful for each of the amazing dogs who have been a part of this journey, I’ve realized that my heart and my home are happiest when I am able to keep things smaller and more focused. This, in turn, is also better for the dogs in my care.
